Alas! For Tuesday's Post!

Tuesday's post has inexplicably disappeared down the gullet of cyberspace into it's gigantic dark belly, never to be seen again! This is a real shame, because it was charming, insightful, and funny. It's precisely the sort of post you would want to take home and introduce to your parents! And talk about well-written! This was Pulitzer Prize (or was it "pullet surprise"? B'gawk!) writing! You would have loved it!
Oh well . . .

Got a letter from "Henry" last week. He's been living down south, but is planning on coming through in late September to say goodbye before he heads back to Myanmar. We're really looking forward to that at Cornland. Hopefully, we can give him some substantial help with his plane ticket ($1000 one-way.)

Classic monster movie aficionados will rejoice at the news that the original Japanese version of Gojira (Godzilla) is finally available on DVD in North America! Without the interruptions of Raymond Burr, the movie is better-paced, more horrifying, and--oddly--longer than the English language version, "Godzilla: King of Monsters!" There's more
interpersonal storyline and actor footage than what we Americans had been privy to. This version of the story makes it easy to understand how it was nominated for Best Picture the year it was released. (It was beat out by Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai.")
