Wonder Winterland!

This is/was my windshield ice scraper. I broke all of the teeth off of it chipping my car out of the 2 or 3 inches of ice that encased it. I finally managed to free up one door, which was in the sun. This enabled me to get inside, start the car, and crank the heat up. An hour or two later, I was able to clear the windows enough to drive over to the gas station and fill up my tank. ($2.29 per gallon here in Pawnee.) They had sold out of ice scraper, so I went to the hardware store and bought one of the last 3 or 40 that they had. It cost me $5, but oh, well. It's one of those scraper/brush combination gadgets. I pulled into the parking lot, and helped a girl finish scraping her windows off. She told me that she'd caught a ride to a truck stop a few miles away, and they were selling ice scrapers for $25! Supply-and-demand, I guess.
Cornland is still without power, and will be until Monday at the earliest. The upshot of this is that the Cornlanders will likely be spared my sermon for this Sunday! And there was great rejoicing! yay.
There's bound to be some place that's having services here in Pawnee (quite a few folks still without electricity here), so I'll check into that tomorrow, I guess.

Stay warm if ya can!

Hey! We lived through the same crappiness! My car was an icy tomb for about three days.

Yeah. I was just laughing at my broken ice scraper, which had survived 10 years or more. It's a sort of desperate, insane laughter.
I have since repented of my whininess. I went to church here locally, and found out most of those folks didn't have power til midnight or 2 am Sunday morning, and some of them were still without power!
Good to know you're still with us, Gregory!
