Now that Thanksgiving Day is past...

... the inevitable juggernaut that is the Christmas holyday (new readers, this is not a misspelling. See my post about that here) rushes in upon us like fools in a place that fills angels with caution.


Explain this to me: We have Christmas decorations and other related items in the stores earlier and earlier every year, much to the consternation of the curmudgeonly (or would that "consternating the curmudgeons"?) Yet, Christmas still seems to take us unexpectedly, and feels like an unexpected too-soon deadline every year! How is that possible?
