Talking with some friends over dinner last night, I was telling them that, apparently, the third graders I taught a few weeks back thought I was "cool." There being a fourth grader in the room, it was suggested that fourth-graders would probably think I was cool, too.
"Yeah," said Danielle, age 9, "They like people who are silly!"
I laughed, of course, because I am quite silly a lot of the time.
"No!" she interjected, "I mean they like people who are foolish!"
A good five minutes later, I was still laughing. I don't think she had any idea what she had connoted.
Congrats, Danielle! You win the Allen's Brain Lab Best Line of the Night Award!
