Brief Melvin fragment

... And again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a fruit salesman looking for fine pears to sell. And when he finds one very pear of very great price--and he probably would find it right over there."

Jesus said this, pointing to Melvin, who had never in his life sold pears at his fruit stand, but only melons, and those at very reasonable prices. In fact, Melvin thought, if he at any time had a pear to sell to that loud-mouthed prophet, he'd raise the price so high that Jesus would have to sell all that he had to buy it. This could be quite a sizeable amount from a guy who bragged about having a treasure hidden in a field somewhere! Denarius signs virtually appeared in the merchant's eyes as he thought about it.

The more traditional rendering of this text is here.
