Weird Wildlife Spotting

I spent last week with my folks. My dad had surgery to remove some melanoma from his neck. The plan was to remove all the left-side lymph nodes, which they believed to be cancerous. Once the surgical staff got in there, they found just one--count it, one--node with cancer in it. He's home now and doing well. He's cut his pain meds intake by half, and the doctor says no radiation will be required--though probably some chemo.

Anyway, while driving to my parents' house Monday, I spotted some very strange wildlife along I-44, just east of Washington, MO. I quickly snapped a pic with my camera phone as I whizzed by doing 70 mph. (click to enlarge)
See it?

Here, I'll crop it for you.

See it now? Perched atop the billboard? A flying moose!

Okay, so he's not actually flying. But that is a wing outstretched behind his left antler. You'll just have to take my word for it.

Oh, deer. They get warm this time of year and then want to migrate north. That would be why you can see the wings as the critters get ready to take off. :)

Someone in the area hasn't exercised sufficient caution in disposing of his/her unsuccessful experiments, perhaps? Secret underground laboratory drains have been leaching into the ground water?
