O Happy Day?

Have you seen the new commercial for Hershey's dark chocolate? The commercial itself is nothing special: pictures of the product interspersed with scenes of people enjoying the consumption of said product. It's the background music that grabbed my attention. It's the Gospel classic "O Happy Day," which is itself a sort of reworking of the chorus of Philip Doddridge's hymn of the same name.

O happy day, that fixed my choice
On Thee, my Savior and my God!
Well may this glowing heart rejoice,
And tell its raptures all abroad.
Refrain:
Happy day, happy day,
when Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray,
and live rejoicing every day.
Happy day, happy day,
when Jesus washed my sins away.

Of course, the commercial has merely cut the rest of the song and made a sort of loop out of the first line, so that all you get is a gospel choir belting out "O Happy Day! O Happy Day!" while people appear to enjoy eating chocolate--even if this is the 12th take. Now, I know it's not unusual to take a clip of a pop song that contains apt lyrics for your product and use it, sometimes out of context, in the advertisement. However, is the consumption of chocolate really to be compared with the joy of salvation?

It's enough to make me spit! I need some chocolate.
